Lee County Middle School Unified Track Meet Tuesday
The Lee County Middle School Unified Track Meet will be held Tuesday, March 10, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at South Fort Myers High School. Ten schools will send 160 athletes to compete.
Special Olympics Unified Sports combines students with intellectual or developmental disabilities (called “Athletes”) and students without intellectual disabilities or developmental disabilities (called “Partners”) on sports teams for training and competition.
Through participation in Unified Sports schools help to build a society of acceptance and inclusion and create friendship opportunities.
Each school will bring a 4×100 and a 4×200 boys relay team and a 4×100 and a 4×200 girls relay team to the meet. Each team consist of two Athletes and two Partners.
Awards will be given to the top six teams in each event from the finals (or the top six times from preliminaries if necessary.) The top three teams of boys and the top three teams of girls combining places and times from all races will receive a team trophy.
Every participant will receive a participant’s ribbon.
