Ida Baker made it two straight-set victories to open the volleyball season Thursday night by downing Lehigh 25-15, 25-13, 25-15.

Alicia Marzullo and Amanda Gross again led the Bulldogs offensively. Marcelo delivered five service aces to go with four digs and Gross led in kills with 11 to go with four aces and five digs. Setter Ashley Revis handed out 12 assists.

The Bulldogs (2-0) go for their third win in a row Tuesday in their first district game Tuesday night ay Lemon Bay.

Cape Coral 3, Mariner 1: Cape Coral overcame a loss in the first game Thursday night to finish strong with a 24-26, 25-16, 25-14, 25-17 win over crosstown rival Mariner.

Danielle Smith led the Seahawks with seven service aces and 23 assists. Makenzie Buss contributed 12 kills and 11 digs.

Natalia Christie scored three aces to go with five digs and five kills for the Tritons. Setter Alivia Olsen collected seven assists and two aces, and Abby Love had three aces, four digs, three kills, and one assist.

Bishop Verot 3, St. John Neumann 0: Teya Leonard led the Vikings to a 25-12, 25-7, 25-12 victory Thursday night at St. John Neumann.

Leonard tallied game highs with seven service aces and 19 assists to go with five kills to lead the charge. Kelsey Sullivan added 17 digs and Margaux Fry led with eight kills.

The Vikings host Gulf Coast on Tuesday.
