Miracle swept in series finale with Cardinals
The Palm Beach Cardinals completed a three-game sweep of the Fort Myers Miracle with an 9-3 victory Sunday afternoon at Hammond Stadium.
Cardinals’ starter Tyler Lyons (7-3) followed his recent seven-inning no-hitter with a six-inning, three-hit and one unearned run performance. Palm Beach opened a 5-0 lead after four innings, including another Xavier Scruggs home run. The power-hitting first baseman has tagged Miracle pitching for seven homers this season.
The first Miracle run came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Josmil Pinto earned a RBI with a groundout to second with runners at second and third and no outs. Pinto now has 20 RBI over his last 22 games.
Nick Romero added a two-out, two-run single in the ninth inning to add to his team leading 50 RBI.
Miracle starter Tom Stuifbergen (5-9) lasted five innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on six hits with two strikeouts.
The Miracle (53-65, 19-30) have Monday off before hitting the road to Jupiter to take on the Hammerheads Tuesday night.
