Hancock juniors KO’d in state semifinal

By Staff | Aug 1, 2011

Hancock’s all-star team was knocked out of the Little League Junior Baseball State Tournament Sunday in the semifinal round by Palma Ceia 9-0 in DeLand.

“They were a buzz-saw team, very good,” said Hancock manager Dave Bechtol. “They got five runs in one inning and that was all they needed. Throughout all of district, section and state they 10-runned everyone except two teams, us being one of them.”

Gavin Paz had a double for Hancock, one of only four hits against Palma Ceia. Dustin Elg, Quinn Bourque and Felix Camacho each contributed singles.

Hancock comes home after advancing farther than any team before them while Palma Ceia plays for the state championship Monday.
