LAKELAND – Lakeland batted around the order three times, racking up 17 hits and drawing 11 walks Tuesday night in dropping the Fort Myers Miracle 13-2 at Joker Marchant Stadium.

The Tigers scored at least one run in each of the first six innings, with four in the third, three in the fourth, and three in the sixth. Miracle starter Matt Schuld (3-1) took his first loss of the year, giving up a season-high six earned runs on nine hits in three innings.

Despite the loss, the Miracle (28-24) remain tied for first place in the Florida State League South with the St. Lucie Mets, who also lost Tuesday 4-1 in Clearwater.

The Tigers (27-25) were led offensively by Avisail Garcia and Corey Jones, who collected four hits each, with Garcia driving in four runs, three coming on a three-run home run in the fourth inning.

Cole Nelson (3-6) notched the win for the Tigers, giving up just one earned run on five hits in six solid innings of work.

Danny Rams and Anderson Hidalgo led the Miracle, with two hits and one double apiece. Rams doubled and later scored on a passed ball in the fourth against Nelson. They added their second run in the eighth inning, as Jhon Goncalves doubled and scored on an RBI single by Rams.

The Miracle look to rebound Wednesday night in the second game of the four-game series in Lakeland.
