Mariner High School is planning a pregame ceremony prior to the varsity football season-opening game Sept. 4 against Cape Coral.

The ceremony will remember the late Tony McKenna. McKenna, a senior on the 1989 team, died after being struck by lightning on the practice field. They later named the football field in his honor.
