The Cape Coral 9-10 All-Star softball team is headed to the Little League State Tournament, which runs Friday through Monday at East Point Little League in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area. The squad from Burton Field clinched the state berth by winning the Section 6 championship Saturday at Lehigh Acres Community Park. They defeated Golden Gate 6-5 and Fort Myers Beach 19-9 to emerge from the round-robin tournament. The team began its run by winning the District 9 championship. They’re one of eight teams headed to the state tournament. Three pool play games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday with the semifinals Sunday and the championship game Monday.
