Bromberg dealt first defeat 3-2
SARASOTA – David Bromberg was undefeated heading into the Fort Myers Miracle’s game Friday night, but the Sarasota Reds held on tight to an early 3-0 lead to salvage a 3-2 victory in the final game of a three-game series.
The Miracle (10-11) won the first two games by a combined score of 26-4, but it was a much closer affair in Friday’s finale.
Bromberg (7-1) took the loss and the only blemish on his night was a three-run Reds uprising in the second inning. The right-hander went six innings allowing seven hits, three earned runs, one walk and six strikeouts.
Santos Arias and Henry Arias each worked a hitless and scoreless inning in relief.
Mark Dolenc crushed his third homer of the year, a two-run blast in the sixth to close the gap to 3-2, but the Miracle couldn’t get anything else going against the Reds (9-12).
The Miracle return to Hammond Stadium Saturday night to host the Dunedin Blue Jays for four games. It is Salute to the Negro Leagues night with both teams wearing authentic Negro League jerseys.
