Robertson shuts down Manatees

By Staff | May 31, 2009

One game after Fort Myers Miracle starter David Bromberg delivered his best outing of the season, Tyler Robertson followed suit.

His masterful, six-inning performance led the Miracle to a 2-0 victory over the host Brevard County Manatees Sunday at Space Coast Stadium.

The Miracle have won three straight games, along with taking the first two games of the four-game set.

Robertson (3-2) struck out six and did not walk a batter. He retired eleven straight at one point.

It was the first outing of the season Robertson did not allow a walk.

Santos Arias, Spencer Steedley, and Blair Erickson combined on the shutout. Erickson, who entered with a two-run lead and one out in the ninth, saved his sixth.

Amaury Rivas pitched well enough to win but suffered the loss.

The Miracle (32-16) won despite being outhit 7-5. Ben Revere and Jair Fernandez delivered RBI hits in the fifth and third innings, respectively.

Revere just missed his second homer of the season, finishing with a double.

Logan Schafer, Steffan Wilson, and Chris Errecart each went 2-for-4 for Brevard County (29-14).

The teams play again Monday at 7:05 p.m.
