Mariah Fernandez slugged a two-run triple in the second inning to help North Fort Myers widen an early cushion en route to a 12-1 softball victory Thursday over Cypress Lake.

Kayla Ramey, Alyssa Dougherty and Paige Engh all drove in runs for the undefeated Red Knights.

North freshman Darienne Boyden got her first varsity start on the mound, allowing one hit and striking out nine in five innings to earn her first win.

The Red Knights (8-0) host Mariner Monday night.
