FGCU women win 7th straight

Four Eagles scored in double figures as Florida Gulf Coast extended its winning streak to seven straight games by defeating Lipscomb 89-46 Thursday night.

Lipscomb jumped out to an early 13-8 lead, but the Eagles used a 33-12 run over the final 14 minutes of the game and never looked back.

FGCU (16-4, 9-3 Atlantic Sun Conference) poured it on in the second half and outscored the Bison 48-21 to win their ninth conference game of the season. The win also improves the Eagles’ home court record to 11-1.

The Eagles got contributions from every player on the floor.

Chelsea Lyles led the way with a game-high 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting and 3-of-5 behind the arc, while also adding six assists. Shannon Murphy scored 14 points and dished six assists. Brittany Brown finished with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting.

Kelsey Jacobson contributed 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting. Kristina Mingos, in her third career start, scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds.

Adrianne McNally chipped in with seven points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Emma Beddome had a solid performance with five points, six boards, and five assists.

Amanda Fessenden posted seven points and Diana Jacklin finished with three points, five rebounds, three blocks, and two assists.

The Eagles host Belmont Saturday with a 1 p.m. tip-off at Alico Arena.
