FGCU women post 64-56 win
Chelsea Lyles scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Florida Gulf Coast to a 64-56 victory Thursday night over Jacksonville.
The Eagles (13-4, 6-3 Atlantic Sun Conference) got off to a strong start, opening the game on a 12-2 run, but the Dolphins (10-8, 6-3) responded quickly, scoring the next 11 straight points to take a 13-12 lead.
A Kelsey Jacobson three-pointer ended the JU run, putting the Eagles back in front 15-13 with 11:33 left in the half.
The teams traded the lead back and forth several times over the next seven minutes, and the Eagles took a 30-27 lead at halftime.
Jacksonville regained the lead early in the second half, but the Eagles bounced back with a 13-3 run to lead 43-36 with 11:25 left. Jacksonville led one more time, 53-52 with 5:19 to go.
Kelsey Jacobson and Adrianne McNally scored 11 points each for the Eagles, who host A-Sun foe North Florida Saturday.
