Defenseman Ryan McGinnis was assigned to the Florida Everblades by the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League in one of three separate roster moves Thursday with the ECHL regular-season-opening game Friday night at Germain Arena against the Charlotte Checkers.

Goaltender David Shantz has been recalled to the Florida Panthers and the Blades traded defenseman Wes Cunningham to the Elmira Jackals.

The other big move involved the Everblades trading Cunningham to the Jackals for the rights to forward Steve McJannett who spent the previous two seasons in the ECHL with the Columbia Inferno.
