Prep Report: Baker rally tops Mariner

Ida Baker continued to get key contributions from several players in a four-game volleyball victory over city rival Mariner Thursday night.
After dropping the opening game, host Baker rallied to take the next three and the match, 17-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.
Bulldogs coach Jessicah Bullock noted the performance of junior Julia Robery. Robery has been a steady hitter and server this season, and showed her versatility Thursday with a strong effort from the setter position.
The always versatile Taylor Van Horn contributed to the attack with seven kills and 13 digs. Senior Sarah Godsey had 13 digs and senior Caitlin Holloway recorded 10 kills.
Mariner (2-4) was led by senior Brooke Albert, who came through with 13 digs and four aces.
The Tritons (2-4) host East Lee County Tuesday. The Bulldogs (4-2) participate in the Golden Gate Tournament Saturday in Naples.
Fort Myers 3, Cape Coral 0: District 5A-15 favorite Fort Myers remains unbeaten after a straight-set win over visiting Cape Coral 25-4, 25-6, 25-8.
The Green Wave ran their record to 8-0, while the Seahawks drop to 2-6.
Cape makes a visit to Port Charlotte Wednesday night.
Boys Golf
At Palmetto Pine Country Club: This time Ida Baker’s overall balance determined a victory over South Fort Myers Thursday.
South’s Alex Felice took medalist honors with a 36 toward the team total of 191, but Baker had four scores of 45 or below to earn the victory with a 169 total.
Todd Mallorey paced the Bulldogs with 39 while Ryan Gallick added 42 and Michael Faulkner 43. The Bulldogs (13-1) host Riverdale Monday at Palmetto Pine.

At Royal Tee Golf Club: North Fort Myers pounded out an easy victory over Island Coast with East Lee County participating with just two players.
North accumulated a team score of 177 behind Greg Crowell’s medalist round of 39, backed by Bryant Crowell with 44 and Philip Sin with 45.
Jordan Carr led Island Coast with a round of 46 toward the team total of 237.
North (5-4) faces Mariner and Dunbar Tuesday at Eastwood Country Club.

At Coral Oaks: Sparked by senior Spencer McKee’s 38, host Mariner cruised to a 25-stroke win over Riverdale, 156-181.
McKee was followed closely by teammates Dean Hoffer (39), C.J. Cricco (39) and Grant Burgess (40).
Mike Johnston led Riverdale with a 41.
Mariner faces Riverdale and Fort Myers Tuesday at Pelican Preserve.

At The Landings: Emily Yi claimed medalist honors with a round of 36 and Brittany Agricola added 37 to lead North Fort Myers to an easy 191-218 win over Cypress Lake with Lehigh participating with a single player.
North (6-1) takes on Gateway Charter Tuesday at Copperhead.
