Forward Mark Lee, a onetime Charlotte Checkers player, is the latest addition to the Florida Everblades. Lee’s signing of a contract was announced Thursday by Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush.

Lee, who spent the previous two seasons splitting time between the ECHL’s Checkers and the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League, is the 15th player signed by the Everblades this offseason.

Lee, 24, tallied 39 points (18g, 21a) in 34 regular season games with the Checkers last season. He also saw action in 17 games with the Wolfpack last year, contributing six points (1g, 5a).

“Mark is a very gifted and creative offensive player,” Blades coach Malcolm Cameron said. “He’s strong on faceoffs and brings substantial AHL experience to our club having played parts of the last three seasons there. We’re looking forward to him bringing his experience, leadership and offensive abilities to our lineup.”

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound centerman’s best season was 2006-07 when he led the Checkers in scoring with 80 points in 59 games. His point total that season also ranked eighth highest in the ECHL.

The Everblades begin their training camp on Oct. 5 with their first regular season game slated for Germain Arena on Oct. 17 against Charlotte.
