Game two of the Florida State League Championship Series Sunday turned out to be the same story, different night.

The Fort Myers Miracle offense was silenced and the Daytona Cubs had plenty of it in a 9-1 win at Hammond Stadium. The Cubs took a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series with Game 3 Monday in Daytona.

The Cubs opened the series Saturday with a 5-1 win over the Miracle. Mariner High School graduate and former Florida Gulf Coast University standout Casey Coleman started on the mound for the Cubs, going five innings.

Coleman allowed four hits and one run, helping the Cubs take the opening game.

The Cubs carried that momentum into Sunday’s game, pounding out 14 hits against the Miracle.

Blake Lalli hit a two-run home run in the third inning off Miracle starter Cole Devries, highlighting a five-run outburst.

The Cubs added a run in the fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth innings.

The Miracle scored their lone run in the eighth when Whit Robbins singled home Steve Singleton.

Daytona needs just one more win to secure the FSL Championship. First pitch Monday is 7:05 p.m.

If necessary, the fourth and fifth game will also be in Daytona.
