Starter Tyler Robertson went the distance Sunday and his complete game led the visiting Fort Myers Miracle to a 6-1 win over the Tampa Yankees at Steinbrenner Field.
Offensively, the Miracle did their usual damage, connecting for 12 hits. Robertson worked nine innings, and allowed one run on five hits, with a walk and five strikeouts. The Miracle increased their season-high win streak to seven, and closed in on the first-half division crown with the magic number now at eight.
In the top of the first inning, the Miracle scored four runs. Brian Dinkelman and Edward Ovalle had back-to-back singles, and Danny Valencia walked to load the bases for Whit Robbins. Robbins brought in Dinkelman with his sacrifice fly. The hot bat of Wilson Ramos followed with a two-run double, and Danny Santiestiban plated Ramos with an RBI double.
The Miracle added a pair of runs in the third to make it 6-0. Yancarlos Ortiz beat out a double-play ball later in the inning, picking up an RBI.
Fresh off the three-game sweep in Tampa, the Miracle return home Monday against the Dunedin Blue Jays.
