Vipers hand Firecats first setback of season

Something had to give Saturday night when the unbeaten Florida Firecats visited the Tennessee Valley Vipers, winners of four straight.
Tennessee Valley met the challenge.
The Vipers beat the Firecats 50-34 at the Von Braun Center. Tennessee Valley improved to 5-3 and the Firecats fell to 6-1 in arenafootball2's American Conference South Division.
The Vipers avenged a 62-47 loss April 12 at Germain Arena.
Travis Blanchard of the Vipers had three carries for touchdowns and was in on eight tackles, seven unassisted. Kevin Eakin completed 29-of-41 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns.
The first quarter ended tied 7-all. Florida quarterback Chris Wallace's three-yard run was answered by Eakin's six-yard touchdown pass to Maurice Brown.
Tennessee Valley built a 26-21 halftime lead and led 36-28 after three quarters.
Wallace completed 21-of-36 passes for 218 yards and four touchdowns for the Firecats.
The Firecats look to bounce back when they return to Germain Arena Saturday to face South Georgia.
The Firecats remain at home May 31 when they host Daytona Beach at Germain Arena.
