The Fort Myers Miracle squandered a 9-1 lead Sunday at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, but scored two runs in the top of the 12 inning for a wild 12-10 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads.

The teams combined for 22 runs, 31 hits, five errors and stranded 21 runners on base.

Wilson Ramos hit two home runs for the Miracle, while Johnny Woodard went 4-for-5 with four RBI, finishing a home run shy of the cycle.

Woodard’s RBI triple in the first and Ramos’ initial blast put the Miracle up by two runs after two.

Three runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings helped the Miracle build a 9-1 lead.

The Hammerheads’ comeback was started in the sixth with a throwing error by Whit Robbins at third and an RBI double from Gregory Burns.

In extra innings, neither team had a quality chance until the Miracle 12th. Ortiz led off with a double to left. Rudy Palacios walked, and Danny Santiestiban connected on a one-out single for an 11-10 lead. Insurance was tacked on when Woodard added a sacrifice fly.

The Miracle and Hammerheads bounce back for game two of the series on Monday night.
