Magic repel Hawks

By Staff | Jan 8, 2009

The Orlando Magic built a big lead, then held on to hand the Atlanta Hawks a rare loss at home.

Dwight Howard had 23 points and 19 rebounds, helping the Magic hold on for a 106-102 victory Wednesday night in a matchup of the top two teams in the Southeast Division.

Orlando nearly squandered a 21-point advantage, catching a huge break when Mike Bibby missed a breakaway layup that should have pulled the Hawks within two points with just under 1 1/2 minutes remaining.

Heat-Grizzlies trade: The Miami Heat traded guard Shaun Livingston and cash to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for a conditional second-round pick in the 2012 draft.
