FSU, USF agree to football series
Florida State and the University of South Florida will meet in football for the first time in September.
The Bulls of the Big East Conference will visit the Seminoles of the Atlantic Coast Conference on Sept. 26, with a second game set for Sept. 29, 2012 at USF, which plays its home games in the same stadium as the NFL’s Tampa Bay Bucs.
Both schools are coming off winning seasons. Florida State finished 9-4 after beating Wisconsin in the Champs Sports Bowl and USF went 8-5 after
Seminoles DE leaving: Florida State pass rusher Everette Brown is leaving school a year early for the NFL draft.
Brown led the Atlantic Coast Conference in sacks and tackles for loss this past season. He was a near-unanimous pick for the all-conference team and was a second-team All-American.
The school announced Brown’s decision Wednesday.
A 6-foot-3, 245-pound redshirt junior from Stantonsburg, N.C., Brown will finish his Florida State career second in tackles for loss with 46 and fifth in sacks with 23.
Brown’s departure leaves the Seminoles without either starting defensive end. Neefy Moffett, a senior, had 11 tackles for loss and 5 1/2 sacks this past season.
