Regent adds steakhouse; Seabourn Sojourn to debut

By Staff | Nov 28, 2008

Two of cruise travel’s ultra-luxurious brands – Regent and Seabourn – will soon be unveiling a next generation eatery and vessel.

In the case of Regent, a new, contemporary steak and seafood venue – Prime 7 – will be added to both Seven Seas Voyager in December and Seven Seas Mariner (January) during refurbishment efforts to both of its all-suite ships.

Seabourn, meanwhile, has announced the name of its next generation vessel. Seabourn Sojourn will make her debut in June 2010.

Regent Steakhouse

A glamorous, contemporary interpretation of a classic American steakhouse, Regent’s fee-free Prime 7 will feature a fresh, distinctive dcor and an innovative menu of the finest prime-aged steak and chops along with fresh seafood and poultry specialties. It’s part of the line’s $40 million refurbishment plan.

The restaurant will feature an array of avant-garde appetizers such as a trio of steak tartares and foie gras sliders with rhubarb chutney along with traditional favorites that include oysters Rockefeller and jumbo lump crab cake. Look also for a wide selection of soups, salads, vegetable dishes and deserts.

No fewer than eight USDA Prime, dry-aged steaks will be offered on the menu, including a 32-ounce Porterhouse that is carved tableside, an 18-ounce “Cote de Boeuf” bone-in rib steak, a 12-ounce New York strip, slow-roasted prime rib, 6- and 10-ounce filet mignons and the signature surf and turf – a 6-ounce filet mignon accompanied by a Canadian cold water lobster tail or Alaskan king crab legs. Non-beef specialties include New Zealand double cut lamb chops, double cut Kurobuta Berkshire pork chops, center cut milk-fed veal chop, an oven-roasted organic half chicken, Alaskan king crab legs, Maine lobster with drawn butter and grilled branzino with lemon and capers.

Each meal is accompanied by complimentary pairings of California white and red wines, and there is an extensive list of American wines available for purchase by the glass.

Sojourn Debut

Seabourn’s new ultra-luxury yacht will be unveiled in London in June 2010, before sailing on its 14-day maiden voyage.

Like its sister Seabourn Odyssey, debuting in June 2009, Sojourn will feature 225 onboard suites, 90 percent of which have private verandas. Each suite features separate living areas and bedrooms, writing desks with personalized stationery, iPod and MP3 connections and spacious granite bathrooms with separate bath and shower and twin sinks.

The two-deck, state of the art Spa at Seabourn features Spa Villas which can be reserved for hours of indulgence and relaxation. The new vessels will offer four dining venues, including a spacious open-seating restaurant. Six bars and lounges will serve a full range of beverages including fine wines and spirits with Seabourn’s compliments.

Fares and detailed itineraries will be announced in February 2009.

Sojourn is the second of three 450-guest vessels being added to The Yachts of Seabourn’s fleet of intimate, yacht-like cruisers.

The line, like Regent, has won numerous awards and consistent acclaim for highly personalized service, all-suite accommodations and superb cuisine.
