Democratic subsidies
To the editor:
Trump made a strong statement about Amazon receiving cutthroat prices from our post office. The taxpayers may be subsidizing Amazon through losses on the postal agreement thereby helping Mr. Bezos’s fortune to grow from an already mammoth $150 billion. This is the same Amazon that doesn’t pay taxes so we are also subsidizing his use of the roads and all other taxpayer funded benefits
Is Amazon worth this subsidy? There are many stories about Amazon indiscriminately firing some employees coincidentally just before their stock option matures. Amazon’s Human Resources Division employs a bevy of lawyers to attack the helpless employee with threats to withhold severance money until they sign a statement absolving Amazon of any violations of employee rights. I have a friend who went through this horrendous experience.
This bully approach to employees, the post office and taxpayers is hurtful to us all.
This subsidizing of large companies such as Amazon and pharmaceuticals grew unchallenged under the Obama term and we heard nothing from the left about this abuse.
Obama’s terms saw the disparity between the little guy and the rich widen more than at any time in history. The top 1% increased their wealth by 21% while the middle class lost 12%.
Why is the left complicit with this abuse of the taxpayer by the Amazon’s, pharmaceuticals and other strong lobbying groups? This is clearly a siding with the big rich companies instead of watching out for the helpless taxpayer who doesn’t have a bevy of lawyers.
No doubt the Democratic Party is making the rich richer.
