Public should have been alerted
To the editor:
Recently we heard about the arrest of a serial rapist, kidnapper and most recently, a murder. This thug preyed on lone women in shopping centers, driving around town and while washing a car at home. This all happened over a 10-day period.
Why wasn’t the public alerted about this monster sooner, not after his arrest?
After maybe the second victim came forth, an alert to the communities in Lee County should have been released. Not notifying the public put our wives, girl friends, daughters and female friends in a danger they did not know about.
This type of crime should be made public. I don’t care how many tickets the police issue, I do care about not notifying the public of the danger that lurks.
I hope Sheriff Scott was not going to talk to the media because of his problem with them, but put those disagreements with the media aside and worry about the public.
