Vote two of three incumbents out

By Staff | Sep 3, 2011

To the editor:

“Incumbents are not the best choice”

Three incumbents are included in the mix for re-election with Pete Brandt wanting to re-Pete in District 2, Deile, the retired military officer with a law degree, is also seeking re-election for District 3 and Donnell for District 7.

I will not address Derrick Donnell’s candidacy with the other two and welcome him for another four years.

Let’s talk about Pete Brandt. He will be 84 years of age at the end of his term, if he is re-elected. This is not to say old age is a bar from serving on council, but may have mental and physical limitations and is something to be considered. Pete has served us for almost four years without distinction and it is time for Pete to find another place to spend his time. Out with the old and in with the new, as the saying goes. Both John Carioscia, Sr. and Joe Coviello are excellent choices for District 2.

Bill Deile, of District 3, is very gifted with words, especially with the word “I” which is very prominent in his vocabulary. Bill is well educated and spent most of his professional career in the employ of the Federal Government as a military mouth piece. He is not a practicing attorney. Tune in on any Monday council meeting so you can see Deile as he berates city employees and residents alike. Deile is not considered a team player, unless you have signed THE contract nor does he present a positive image for the City of Cape Coral. Time to say goodbye to Bill Deile and send him on his way out from the dais. Alan Sheppard and Leonard Nesta are great candidates and a welcomed positive change for the council.

District 5 has three outstanding candidates in Rana Erbrick, Richard Leon and Scott Morris. District 7 cannot go wrong with re-electing Derrick Donnell or considering David Stokes as our elected representatives.
