Some things just stink
To the editor:
We all feel sorry for a lame horse or a lame dog or a lame duck. What about the “lame duck” council in Cape Coral? There is nothing to feel sorry about when it is making a super major decision which will affect thousands of lives (seems like the decision has already been made since detailed financing is being discussed) and the very morale of the city itself when there will be a new council soon.
We don’t talk about lame fish but only “smelly” or “stinky.” Something smells fishy when an election is such a short time away and such a major decision is on a crash course.
Something smells fishy when the city becomes a banking institution charging usurious interest rates when the local bank reluctantly gives 2 percent for a one-year CD.
Something smells fishy when so many will be forced to walk away or foreclose and the big-wigs know it and even help bring it on.
Something smells fishy when Oct. 22, is the deadline for discount payments with a November election a few weeks away.
Phew! It all smells fishy even though it’s a lame duck.
