Scott erred at Palin rally
To the editor:
I have always been a Mike Scott supporter until his performance at Germain Arena. Though being a Republican in Lee County is the popular thing to do, I would not think it proper for our sheriff to appear in uniform and make a public display of his feelings. Now it is being discussed on national TV.
The use of Obama’s middle name is an indication that our sheriff could be influenced by a person’s name. A sheriff is supposed to be non-biased. I don’t think John McCain would like to be introduced as John Sidney McCain. Obama is not responsible for a name that was given to him by his mother. The real meaning for the name “Hussein” in Arabic is “Handsome One”. Does our sheriff know this? Let’s not forget King Hussein of modern Jordan.
Tracey Schmitt’s (Palin’s campaign spokesperson) response to Lee County sheriff Mike Scott’s comment about “Barack Hussein Obama” — “We do not condone this inappropriate rhetoric, which distracts from the real questions of judgment, character and experience that voters will base their decisions on this November.”
