Cape discriminates against RV owners
To the editor:
We feel we have fallen into a case of discrimination by the city of Cape Coral. Having purchased a home in 2003 in the northwest Cape, we planned to buy a trailer to take trips to see the state. We bought a trailer and parked it on our property, then were notified by a Code Compliance officer we cannot have an RV on our property, only licensed autos and boats are allowed. We assumed that boats and trailers were both recreational vehicles.
Now with the added expense of having to store our trailer, the upcoming utilities expansion, increased property taxes and depreciation of home values, we find we can no longer afford to live in Cape Coral but will need to sell our home at a loss in order to relocate to a place where we can enjoy the activities we choose, not what the city deems allowable. Welcome to “Paradise Lost.”
