Daniel Greene

Daniel Greene, 84, of Cape Coral, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009. He was born in Stafford Springs, Conn., to Daniel and Rose (Niderno) Greene, now deceased, the second son in a family of seven siblings.

He piloted bombers and fighter planes in World War II and Korea, and retired as a major in the Marine Corps. He belonged to the exclusive Fraternity of The Chosin Few, men who were at the battle of the Chosin Reservoir in Korea.

During his time in the military, he and his wife lived at various Marine bases. He also worked at the Pentagon.

After his retirement, he and his wife established Caloosa Realty in Cape Coral when it was just a developing city. He was a member of the Cape Coral Rotary Club.

He is survived by his sisters, Audrey Molyn of Silver Spring, Md., and Betty Dominski of Glenview, Ill.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife, Doris; brothers, James Greene and Edward Greene; and sisters, Lorraine Haigh and Irma Hare.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 2628 Del Prado Blvd. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Metz Chapel of Harvey-Engelhardt-Metz Funeral Homes, 1306 Lafayette St. He will be buried next to his wife in Arlington National Cemetery, with full military honors.
