Matthew W. Kania

Matthew W. Kania, 66, of Cape Coral, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at HealthPark Hospital in Fort Myers.

He was an avid fisherman who loved nothing more than to be out on the water with his friends. He also was a successful ham radio operator who spoke with other operators around the world and even with astronauts.

He served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany for two years.

He is survived by his loving pet parrot, Anoki; son, Chad and his family of Pennsylvania; most loving sister, Connie (Bill); and niece, Jamie, and nephew, Eric, all of New Jersey.

Visitation will be held from 10-10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Coral Ridge Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
