Matthew W. Kania

Matthew W. Kania, 66, of Cape Coral died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at HealthPark Hospital in Fort Myers.

He was an avid fisherman who loved nothing more than to be out on the water with his friends. He also was a successful ham radio operator who spoke with other operators around the world and even with astronauts.

He served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany for two years.

He is survived by his loving pet parrot, Anoki; his son, Chad and his family of Pennsylvania; his most loving sister, Connie (Bill); and niece, Jamie, and nephew, Eric, all residing in New Jersey.

Viewing will be held Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 10-10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Coral Ridge Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m.
