Lawrence E. Hickox

Lawrence E. Hickox, 71, of Cape Coral, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Cape Coral Hospital. He was born in 1937 in Nahunta, Ga., to his parents, Barney and Arrie Hickox, now deceased.

He graduated from Edison High School in Miami in 1954.

He served his country honorably with the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1957.

In 1970 he opened LeJeune Casa in Coral Gables. He lived in Key Largo for 10 years and Flagler Beach before moving to Cape Coral in 2005. He enjoyed boating, fishing, cooking and spending time outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Betty of Cape Coral; sister, Linda and husband Rocky Santorsola of Davie, Fla.; brother, Donald and wife Kathy Hickox of Heber Springs, Ark.; niece, Lisa and husband Luis Alvarez, and his great-niece Angelina Alvarez, of Pembroke Pines, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Harold and Earl Hickox.

A memorial service will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Van Orsdel Family Funeral Chapel, 11220 N. Kendall Drive, Miami.
