Elaine G. (Kuehl) (Lawler) Dickey
Elaine G. (Kuehl) (Lawler) Dickey, of River Tower West, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, the day before her birthday, at the Life Care Center of Punta Gorda. She had collapsed Nov. 10 while waiting in line in Tampa to board her annual Caribbean cruise.
She was born Elaine Genevieve Kuehl in Chicago, Ill., to her parents Gustav and Emma (Wittenborn) Kuehl. She was married to Howard W. Lawler on July 18, 1941, in Berwyn, Ill.
She was a supervisor for Pepperidge Farms for 20 years in Downers Grove, Ill., overseeing bread-making and roll-making. She retired in 1974.
She and her husband were early active members of the Sportsman’s Club in Cape Coral, the scene of many evenings of dining and dancing for themselves and many others.
She later married Clyde E. Dickey on May 15, 1980, in Cape Coral.
She also taught line dancing and was an avid bowler until her third knee replacement.
She is survived by her son, Craig M. Lawler and his wife, Carolyn E. Jerard, of Acworth, N.H.; stepsons, Clyde E. Dickey of Chicago, Ill., and John E. and Anne Dickey of Potomac, Md.; grandchildren, Scott A. and Jandee R. Lawler of New Durham, N.H., and Ryan S. and Jessica R. Lawler of Cambridge, Vt.; stepgranddaughter, Heather L. Jerard Habich of South Burlington, Vt.; great-grandson, Owen M. Lawler of Cambridge, Vt.; and great-stepgrandson, Jon S. Habich of Providence, R.I.
She also is survived by John’s children, Kathryn and John; grandchildren, David and Julianne; nieces; nephews; stepgrandchildren; and great-stepgrandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Howard W. Lawler, in 1980; second husband, Clyde E. Dickey, in 1994; grandson, Clint M. Lawler, in 1973; and stepson, Donald A. Dickey.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Faith Presbyterian Church. The family has requested no flowers.
