Diana Oney
Diana Oney, 56, of Cape Coral and formally of Rhode Island, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, after a courageous five-year and eight-month battle against cancer. She was born July 5, 1952.
During her fight, she stayed an active member of Cape Coral Community Church and Street Watch ministries. She was always putting the needs and wants of others before herself, whether it was spoiling her grandchildren or praying with other patients at Florida Cancer Center to calm their fears. She was truly everything a Christian woman should be.
She will be greatly missed by all she touched and all who loved her. Our faith, however, lets us know that she is renewed in Christ Jesus. She was truly an inspiration to all who knew her well, and those who did not know her well at all. There are not enough words to describe how wonderful, loving, caring, considerate, thoughtful, courageous, strong, kind, gentle, beautiful and generous she was.
She is survived by her parents, John and Tena Papa; husband, Floyd; sisters, Joanne (Jim) Vescera and Ann Marie (Armand) Collard; daughters, Amy (Richard Sr.) Coppola, Susan (Bradley Parker) Gallagher; stepdaughters, Cindy Harmon and Joella (Roger) Alexander; grandchildren, Alan, Margo, Amber, Naomi, Paula, Richard Jr., Nicholas Coppola and Niccolhas Oney; nieces, Jessica and Julie; and nephews, Jason, Jeffery, Joshua, Joey and Justin.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Maria “Doris” and Ernest “Pappy” Parrillo.
She was so loved and will so be missed, until we meet again …
Joshua 1:9 tells us, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified: do not be discouraged, for the lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Services celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Road.
