Dan W. Taylor
Dan W. Taylor, 85, of Cape Coral, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008. He was born in 1923 in Aiken, S.C.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1938. He retired after 23 years of service as master sergeant in 1961.
Following his military service, he worked for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for 10 years as a computer programmer. He retired in 1978 and moved to Cape Coral from Dayton, Ohio.
He will always be remembered for walking Coronado Parkway in Cape Coral waiving the U.S. flag.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathryn; children, Michael Cartwright and Kathleen Wyatt of Columbus, Ohio; brother, Robert Morris of Charleston, S.C.; and granddaughter, Sarah.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Skipper, and three children, Mary Heath Taylor, Dan Taylor Jr. and Carl Randall Taylor.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Metz Funeral Chapel with his brother, the Rev. Robert Morris, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
