Bert Purwin

Bert Purwin, 88, of Cape Coral, died Monday, May 26, 2008. He was born in Mehlauken, East Prussia.

He was a well-traveled man, who studied in Italy, immigrated to Israel then to the Dominican Republic, and moved to the United States in 1958. He was fluent in eight languages and was an educator, restaurateur, musician raconteur and all-around Renaissance man.

He was preceded in death by Marianne, and sisters, Dr. Kate Purwin and Erna Sass.

The beloved husband of Diane Lamberton Purwin; father of Lenny (Maria) Purwin and Lisa (Alan) Isaacson; grandfather of Katy and Alex Purwin, Amy (Dave) Cohen and Jeffrey Isaacson; brother-in-law, Donald (Barbara) Lamberton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Coral Ridge Funeral Home. Burial was in Coral Ridge Cemetery. The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at the family home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to one’s favorite charity in his name.
