Hazel Irene Moellinger
Hazel Irene Moellinger, beloved mother, grandmother and “GG,” 89, of Cape Coral went on to glory Wednesday, May 21, 2008.
She was born in Sparta, Wis., the daughter of Herbert and Anne Larson. She attended the Saint Francis School of Nursing. During World War II she served as lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps. She received the American Defense Medal, the Asiatic/Pacific Theatre Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
She was a Cape Coral pioneer, having been a resident since 1961. She was employed at Lee Memorial Hospital for 32 years, retiring in 1992.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Max; brother, Leroy; and sister, Charlotte.
Survivors include her daughters, Jean and Nancy; grandchildren, Allyson, Gabriella, Jessica and Tony; seven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Kathryn McGowan.
The funeralwill be held at Christ Lutheran Church on Tuesday, May 27, at 2 p.m. Viewing will be Tuesday at the Church from 1 – 2 p.m.
Burial will follow with Military Honors at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
