Lee County launches new tool to inform residents of progress on parks projects
Lee County has launched a new tool to help residents stay informed about projects happening at county parks, preserves and beaches.
This tool, which can be found at leeparks.org, is an expansion of the Hurricane Ian Progress Map. It was initially intended to help the community track the status of locations following Hurricane Ian’s devastation, which impacted every Lee County Parks & Recreation site.
The tool still tracks the status of hurricane-related repairs but also includes major maintenance and capital improvement projects. More than 60 projects can be viewed via list or map, and users can learn more about individual projects in detailed project pages.
Detailed project pages include:
• Project location
• Project status
• Summary of the project
• Estimated cost
• Planned start and end dates
• Project images
“While we still have a lot of hurricane recovery projects happening, other major updates and improvements are coming to our parks, preserves and beaches as well,” said Mack Young, director of Lee County Parks & Recreation. “This tool will help our residents get the information that’s most relevant to them and their favorite county sites.”
The Lee Board of County Commissioners has remained committed to transparency through the recovery and rebuilding process of key Lee County Parks & Recreation sites and amenities, such as the Fort Myers Beach Pier and Lakes Park Splash Pads. This tool serves to continue that transparency and keep the public informed throughout the process.
