Matlacha Bridge to be temporarily reduced to one lane
The Lee County Department of Transportation has announced that, beginning Sunday, Aug. 21, at 5 p.m., the Matlacha Bridge will be reduced to one lane of traffic through the overnight hours until 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22.
The bridge will be reduced to one lane in order to stage equipment to pour concrete for a bridge pier footing. According to LDOT officials, once the pour begins, it must continue until complete so it may extend into and through the morning peak hour.
Flagmen will be on site to direct traffic and will alternate traffic to keep delays to a minimum.
Motorists should expect delays and are urged to drive with care through the work zone.
