Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Jerry Bailey has swore in 14 special agents from the Attorney General’s Child Predator Cybercrime Unit, officially welcoming them to FC3, FDLE’s Florida Computer Crime Center.

Bailey administered the Oath of Office Tuesday at FDLE Headquarters.

“FDLE is pleased to have these outstanding men and women become members of our agency,” said Bailey in a prepared statement. “They are seasoned professionals who do exceptional work. This merger of resources will only strengthen Florida’s ability to safeguard children in cyberspace.”

A total of 19 positions transferred from the Attorney General’s Office, all of which will be dedicated exclusively to investigating online child exploitation cases. The positions will be assigned to FDLE’s Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa Bay, and Miami Regional Operations Centers. The transfer of positions occurred as a result of the passage of House Bill 5401 and was effective July 1.

The Florida Computer Crime Center was established in 1998 to investigate complex computer crimes, train law enforcement personnel in computer crime investigations, provide cyber crime safety information to the public and remain current with emerging trends and technology.
