By Staff | Jun 8, 2011

A Cape Coral woman remained hospitalized Wednes-day after being thrown from a motorcycle on Del Prado Boulevard.

Aileen P. Marsden, 45, of 953 N.E. Pine Island Lane, was listed in critical condition at Lee Memorial Hospital. She was trauma-alerted to the hospital Tuesday afternoon with a severe head injury and life-threatening injuries.

According to police, Marsden was traveling south on Del Prado in the right lane on a 2003 Harley Davidson. At about 12:46 p.m., the vehicle in front of her began to slow and Marsden pulled to the right to avoid striking its rear.

The motorcycle traveled up onto the sidewalk and began to rotate, police reported. Marsden was ejected and she and the motorcycle came to rest on the sidewalk on the west side of Del Prado. She was not wearing a helmet.

EMS determined that Marsden hit her head on a curb during the crash.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, a traffic homicide investigation is being conducted by the Cape police.
