Windsor assisted living facility to open Cape sales office

By Staff | Nov 10, 2008

The new Windsor of Cape Coral Assisted Living and Memory Care is slated to open in the summer of 2009, but is currently taking reservations for residents. Its sales office will be open next week on the corner of Nicholas Parkway and Santa Barbara Boulevard.

“Our sales office will be opening, and I’m looking forward to meeting people and giving them a virtual tour to show them floor plans in the sales office,” said Dawn Platt, marketing director for Windsor.

The Windsor of Cape Coral is currently being assembled brick-by-brick at 831 Santa Barbara Boulevard.

Platt explained that Windsor is for seniors who need assistance with their medication, minor assistance with daily living and meals. Average residents are in their 80s and 90s, she said.

“We’re an assisted living, a lease community,” said Platt. “It is a rental community so it is private pay.”

Seniors who want to sign a lease agreement with Windsor will get their Resident Health Assessment for Assisted Living Facilities or 1823 form that qualifies them for assisted living. Once they move in they are able to enjoy Windsor’s numerous amenities.

“We have all one bedrooms in seven different styles,” said Platt. “They are absolutely beautiful and they are all apartment homes. We have a spacious dining room where we serve three meals a day.”

The one-bedroom apartments available at Windsor include a full kitchenette, wall-to-wall carpeting and a large bathroom with a curbless shower.

Windsor has electronically controlled entrances for resident security and an elegant exterior design. Within the facility is a whirlpool spa, elegant dining room, a cafe for refreshments, library and game room.

It offers basic monthly services such as utilities, 24-hour access to staff, a licensed nurse and health monitoring. It also provides specially tailored services including assistance with medication, specialized diets and ambulation.

Once living in the Windsor, residents participate in hobbies, cultural events, opportunities for education growth, religious activities and field trips to various locations in Southwest Florida.

They may also choose additional services with a one-on-one companion who can help with shopping or personal support.

Opening of the new facility is also expected to bring many new jobs to Cape Coral at a time when unemployment in the county is over 9 percent.

Staff for the facility will be hired 60 days prior to its opening.
