Two Cape Coral men were arrested Wednesday after reportedly robbing two elderly women over a two-day period.

Jordan Alan Moore, 19, of 619 S.E. 17th Terrace, and Christopher August Peterson, 25, of 628 N. Santa Barbara Blvd., are each charged with two counts of robbery and one count of burglary.

According to police spokesperson Dyan Lee, the men robbed a 71-year-old woman in the driveway of her home after following her there from a Publix on Cape Coral Parkway West. The incident occurred at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Lee said the men pursued the woman’s vehicle in a silver or gray sports car, and when she pulled into her driveway, Moore forced the woman to give him the money in her purse. The two fled in their car and were later located by police.

Moore and Peterson told police they performed a similar robbery Tuesday at about 5 p.m., when they followed a 65-year-old woman from a Publix on Santa Barbara Boulevard and Veterans Parkway to her home, according to Lee. When Moore approached her, the woman showed him she did not have any money and they men fled the scene in a vehicle.

Lee said Moore and Peterson told police they robbed the women because they needed money to buy pain medicine. They thought an elderly woman “would be a good victim,” she said.

Both men were taken to the Lee County Jail.

Lee added that the 71-year-old woman’s stolen money was returned to her.
