Man accused of impersonating cop; Police: Suspect pulled driver over
A North Fort Myers man was arrested late Thursday morning by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Squad after he impersonated an officer in Cape Coral, according to Cape Coral Police Department spokesperson Dyan Lee.
Carl Lee Kessler, 37, of 13971 Windrush Court, Apt. 9, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Thursday and taken to the Lee County Jail.
A victim told police Kessler pulled him over at Trafalgar Parkway and Santa Barbara Boulevard on Dec. 24, 2007, said Lee. The victim said Kessler was in an unmarked vehicle that was dark blue or gray, and had a revolver.
Kessler allegedly asked the victim for his driver’s license, went to his car to “check” the license, then returned it to the victim and let him go.
The victim later identified Kessler from a photographic lineup, said Lee.
This may not be an isolated incident. Those who suspect they may have been a victim should contact detectives at 574-0644, said Lee.
