Officials to talk to 3 in slain couple case
PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) – Officials are trying to figure out who, if anyone, was supposed to disable a surveillance system at a home of Byrd and Melanie Billings, the slain Panhandle couple known for adopting 13 special needs children.
Surveillance video helped lead to the arrest of eight people in the case. Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said Sunday that officials are looking for another person who was supposed to disable the system before the couple was shot to death.
Investigators planned to question three “persons of interest” this week; one may have been responsible for disabling the cameras.
Also on Monday a hearing was set to determine whether one of the suspects in the case, 28-year-old Donald Stallworth, can be extradited to Florida. Stallworth was arrested in Alabama.
