Woman who stole art from Mark Lunsford returns it

SPRING HILL (AP) – Prosecutors have dropped a case against a woman accused of stealing three large drawings from Mark Lunsford, the father of 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford who was kidnapped and killed in 2005.

Jeanette L. Viegas, 37, faced a felony grand theft charge for taking the drawings – one of which pictured Jessica – and several other items. Prosecutors dropped the charge at the request of Mark Lunsford after Viegas returned the items. Viegas formerly lived with Lunsford in Spring Hill.

Cort records valued the drawings at $300 each. The other drawings, given to Lunsford by a local artist, pictured him with Jesus and with former Gov. Jeb Bush at the signing of the law named for his daughter. Viegas had faced five years in prison and a $5,000 fin
