Aronberg to run for AG

By Staff | Jun 5, 2009

WEST PALM BEACH (AP) – State Sen. Dave Aronberg says he will run for attorney general, and that consumer fraud will be at the top of his agenda.

Aronberg made the announcement at a news conference near Fort Myers on Thursday.

The Greenacres Democrat had said he would run if Gov. Charlie Crist chose to run for Senate and Republican Attorney General Bill McCollum ran for governor. Crist and McCollum have now both announced their intentions to do so.

Aronberg is considered a rising star in Florida politics. He previously served twice as assistant attorney general and worked for a year at the U.S. Treasury Department on international money laundering.

He has focused on consumer issues as a senator, and says he will continue to do so as attorney general.
