Man injured in fall from balcony
ST. PETERSBURG BEACH (AP) – Authorities say a man trying to show a woman afraid of heights that it was safe to lean over a sixth-floor hotel balcony turned out to be wrong.
Police say 26-year-old David Senior, of Joliet, Ill., was injured after falling four stories onto a second-floor concrete ledge Tuesday night. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in fair condition Wednesday.
Police confirmed that the balcony rail was not broken and believe alcohol might have been a factor in the 36-foot fall.
Grand Plaza Beachfront Hotel officials say Senior was visiting their guests. The hotel does not have a reputation for rowdy behavior and is not generally considered a spring break destination.
