Three shot outside Elks Lodge

By Staff | Mar 1, 2009

LAKE CITY (AP) – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says three people were taken to Gainesville hospitals after a shooting outside an Elks Lodge in Lake City.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Sgt. Edward Seifert said investigators have not yet arrested two people that they believe were involved in Saturday morning’s shooting. He said one suspect, 18-year-old Marcus O. Jones, has been arrested and is facing three counts of aggravated battery with a firearm. Jones is being held on $250,000 bond.

A message left at the Columbia County public defender’s office was not immediately returned Sunday afternoon.

Investigators aren’t sure why the suspects fired shots into the crowd at the lodge’s parking lot.
