Woman pleads guilty to nabbing newborn
SANFORD (AP) – A woman accused of stealing a newborn from a central Florida hospital pleaded guilty before attorneys could make opening statements at her trial.
Jennifer Latham faced a sentence of nine years to life if she was convicted of kidnapping and burglary charges. Public defender Tim Caudill said Tuesday that Latham did not make a plea deal with prosecutors.
Caudill says Latham’s sentencing is set for March 4. A spokeswoman for the state attorney’s office says prosecutors will seek a life sentence for Latham.
